Job Description
- We are currently recruiting a qualified and customer-focused Optician to join our dynamic healthcare team.
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge, outstanding customer service skills, and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision through quality eye care solutions.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting appropriate eyewear, interpreting prescriptions, fitting and adjusting spectacles, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and dispense optical prescriptions issued by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
- Assist patients in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products based on their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences.
- Take accurate facial and pupillary measurements to ensure proper lens fitting.
- Fit, adjust, repair, and maintain spectacles to maximize patient comfort and vision.
- Educate patients on the proper use, maintenance, and care of spectacles and contact lenses.
- Maintain accurate patient dispensing records and inventory documentation.
- Ensure all optical products meet quality standards before delivery.
- Manage inventory of frames, lenses, and optical accessories.
- Process customer orders and coordinate with optical laboratories.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical dispensing area.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Stay updated on current optical technologies, lens options, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Diploma, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Dispensing Optics or a related field.
- Relevant professional certification and valid practising licence (where applicable).
- 5–7years of experience in an optical practice or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic lenses, frames, and optical dispensing techniques.
- Knowledge of lens coatings, progressive lenses, bifocals, and specialty lenses.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Good numerical and measurement skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Preferred Competencies:
- Strong sales and product recommendation skills.
- Experience using optical management software.
- Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
