Job Description

• We are currently recruiting a qualified and customer-focused Optician to join our dynamic healthcare team.
• The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge, outstanding customer service skills, and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision through quality eye care solutions.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting appropriate eyewear, interpreting prescriptions, fitting and adjusting spectacles, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and dispense optical prescriptions issued by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
• Assist patients in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products based on their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences.
• Take accurate facial and pupillary measurements to ensure proper lens fitting.
• Fit, adjust, repair, and maintain spectacles to maximize patient comfort and vision.
• Educate patients on the proper use, maintenance, and care of spectacles and contact lenses.
• Maintain accurate patient dispensing records and inventory documentation.
• Ensure all optical products meet quality standards before delivery.
• Manage inventory of frames, lenses, and optical accessories.
• Process customer orders and coordinate with optical laboratories.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical dispensing area.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Stay updated on current optical technologies, lens options, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Diploma, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Dispensing Optics or a related field.
• Relevant professional certification and valid practising licence (where applicable).
• 5–7years of experience in an optical practice or healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of ophthalmic lenses, frames, and optical dispensing techniques.
• Knowledge of lens coatings, progressive lenses, bifocals, and specialty lenses.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Good numerical and measurement skills.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.

• Strong sales and product recommendation skills.
• Experience using optical management software.
• Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
