Job Title: Creative Writing and Literacy Teacher

About the Job

  • The Creative Writing and Literacy Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Harcourt. There are two positions. One position is a literacy teacher for Upper Primary and another Creative writing Teacher for Upper Primary.
  • You will r will design and deliver engaging literacy and creative writing lessons that develop reading comprehension, writing fluency, vocabulary, and critical thinking in learners.
  • Daily responsibilities include planning and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of student performance.
  • The teacher will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment, integrate Montessori and student-centered teaching methods, and collaborate with colleagues and the school leadership to support curriculum development.
  • The role also involves regular communication with parents and guardians, participation in staff meetings and school events, and ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field; a teaching certification or qualification is an advantage.
  • Experience in Training and mentoring learners, with the ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs.
  • Strong foundation in Education and Teaching principles, with experience in literacy and creative writing instruction.
  • Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum implementation, including designing engaging, age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Effective Communication skills for interacting with learners, families, and colleagues, and for providing clear written and verbal feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom, maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, and uphold school values.
  • Familiarity with Montessori or similar child-centered educational approaches is desirable.
  • Commitment to professional ethics, continuous learning, and collaboration within a school community.
