We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Specialist, IP Design
Location: Lagos

Reporting to: Manager, IP Design & Support
Purpose Statement
The overall purpose of the role described in one sentence:
- The Specialist, IP Design shall ensure the smooth management, design and operations of the inq. Digital Nigeria Core IP & MPLS Network and ensuring maximum availability on the core.
- He/she shall also manage capacity planning and ensure that network is built and secured to modern acceptable standards.
Principal Accountabilities/Objectives
- Design IP MPLS Core and customer access circuit framework.
- Review and optimize existing core MPLS circuits and develop / implement new processes and procedures towards ensuring maximum availability on the Core network.
- Prepare change control documentation in line with core and client network requirements (where required).
- Manage MPLS network core security and uptime.
- Manage business continuity and failover/redundancy on network core elements.
- Build and design core MPLS network with emphasis on uptime, scalability and redundancy.
- Manage network documentation, ensuring it’s accurate, version controlled and readily available.
- Carry out detailed and basic configuration tasks on Core network elements – Cisco Routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
- Ensure all necessary network security policies and procedures are in place and in line with Vodacom Business standards.
- Manage IP address assignment and database.
- Manage Network access login servers – Tacacs, implementing network access policies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on state of network performance.
- Liaise with Project management, Installs, Customer Services Operations Centre, Enterprise Business unit, NSA team and any party (internal or external) as regards integration of new circuits on the Vodacom Business Nigeria core.
- Manage Core network capacity – ensuring that the business is formally notified when utilization of core links are at 70% and above.
- Ensure all core circuits are managed and monitored.
- Ensure that good co-operation and teamwork exists between Core Engineering and other areas of the business.
- Manage core network spares and forecast for future network expansion and growth.
- Manage Managed security network and framework.
- Design and support VBN product rollout and network architecture as may be required for data and voice services.
- Carryout other tasks as may be assigned by head, network engineering.
- Design and mange SDN/NFV network and products for the core network.
Communications and Work Relationships
- Internal: Report to the Manager, IP Design & Support. Interact with the other units in Technology and IT. Support Innovation & Partnerships on Solution Designs.
- External: Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to interact with variety of people including customers, vendors, and partners.
- Other Business Units: All Departments.: Liaise with other departments and stakeholders in achieving quality, simplicity and trust in meeting organizational goals and customer expectations on the delivered products and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Cisco certification, preferably at expert level
- – CCIE, with at least 5 years’ experience in an ISP or VPN Provider
- B.Sc in Electrical / Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ post NYSC experience in an ISP/VPN provider environment with minimum of 5 years’ experience in a managing people.
- In depth knowledge on Switching, Vlan Trunking, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Firewall, MPLS VPNs, QoS and Traffic Engineering. Cambridge BWA and SDH experience will bean advantage.
- Have a working knowledge of Voiceover IP, scalable network design, managed services integration.
- Transmission networking knowledge will bean added advantage.
Knowledge and skills:
- He/She must possess a cisco certification preferably at expert level – CCIE.
- He/She must be familiar with Cisco Routing and switching gear, Unix / Linux, cisco Pix and ASA firewalls.
- He/She must have a thorough understanding of Multi label protocol switching, MPLS,
- Vlan-trunking, Cambridge Broadband Wireless Access systems.
