Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our automobile manufacturing team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and production machinery.
  • The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment to ensure maximum equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and minimal production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in manufacturing equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems.
  • Carry out routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Install, commission, and maintain mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to improve equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with Production, Electrical Maintenance, and Engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company maintenance procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment history.
  • Monitor spare parts usage and recommend inventory requirements.
  • Supervise contractors and technicians during maintenance projects where necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in mechanical maintenance within an automobile manufacturing company, industrial plant, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Practical hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, engineering diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) or COREN registration will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
