Job Title: Senior Manager - Climate & Clean Energy
Location: Lagos

Position Summary
- The Senior Manager will provide technical and strategic leadership in the development and delivery of climate change, clean energy, carbon management, and sustainability consulting projects.
- The role requires managing multidisciplinary teams, leading client engagements, developing business opportunities, and ensuring the delivery of high- quality technical solutions that support clients in achieving their climate and energy transition objectives.
- The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of climate policy, carbon markets, methane emissions management, ESG reporting, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Lead the planning and execution of climate and clean energy projects from inception to completion.
- Develop innovative solutions that support decarbonization, energy transition, and sustainable development.
- Provide strategic advice to governments, regulators, development partners, financial institutions, and private sector clients.
- Support corporate strategy and growth initiatives within the Climate and Clean Energy practice.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple consulting assignments simultaneously while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Lead multidisciplinary technical teams across climate, energy, engineering, economics, and policy disciplines.
- Ensure effective project governance, risk management, and client communication.
- Review and approve technical reports, proposals, presentations, and deliverables.
Technical Advisory:
Provide technical leadership in areas including:
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories and emissions accounting
- Methane emissions detection, quantification, and mitigation
- Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) applications and leak detection programmes
- Climate risk and vulnerability assessments
- Net Zero and Decarbonization strategies for industries
- Climate finance - Carbon credit project development and certification
- ESG and Sustainability reporting
- MRV (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) systems
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Build long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Lead proposal development and competitive bids defence.
- Develop strategic partnerships with international organizations and technical partners.
- Contribute to annual revenue and business growth targets.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and coach project managers and technical staff.
- Improve associates' technical capacity across the organization.
- Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive work environment.
Key Performance Indicators
- Identify and follow-up on at least 10 clients quarterly and target 5 - 6 contracts quarterly to enhance CLN revenue growth
- Quality of reports and proposals - error-free and meets CLN/international standard
- Team leadership and capability improvement - at least one capability development workshop/seminar per quarter.Measures of knowledge transfer to be established/agreed
- Annual/quarterly goals setting and performance management of Associates
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Master's Degree in environmental and energy engineering, climate science, environmental management, renewable energy, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, economics, sustainability, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Must have 10-12 years of progressive professional experience in climate change, clean energy, sustainability, or environmental consulting.
- At least 5 years in a leadership or project management role.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience working with governments, multilateral development banks, donor agencies, and private sector clients.
- Evidence leading a team of at least 4 employees
- Experience across African markets is highly desirable.
