We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chinese Translator

Location: Festac, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

• The Chinese Translator will be responsible for translating written and spoken content between Chinese (Mandarin) and English, ensuring accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and clarity. The role supports business communication, documentation, and client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Document translation: Translate contracts, reports, manuals, and other business documents.
• Interpretation: Provide real-time oral translation during meetings, calls, or events.
• Proofreading: Review translated materials for accuracy, grammar, and tone.
• Cultural adaptation: Ensure translations respect cultural nuances and business etiquette.
• Collaboration: Work with internal teams to support communication with Chinese-speaking clients and partners.
• Terminology management: Maintain glossaries and translation memory systems for consistency.

Education & Certification Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Translation Studies, or related field is an added advantage.
• Professional certification such as:
  • HSK (Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) – proficiency test for non-native speakers.
  • CATTI (China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters) – recognized professional translator certification.
  • CIOL Diploma in Translation – UK-based professional qualification.
• Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written).
• Experience: 2–3 years in professional translation or interpretation.
• Technical skills: Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ) is an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail and linguistic accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of industry-specific terminology (legal, medical, technical, or business).

Salary
N350,000 - N400,000 per month.
