Job Summary

  • The Chauffeur is responsible for providing safe, professional, courteous, and efficient transportation services for hotel guests, executives, VIPs, dignitaries, airport transfers, and official business activities. The role ensures that assigned vehicles are operated safely, maintained in excellent condition, and presented to the highest luxury hospitality standards while delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • The Chauffeur works closely with the Head Chauffeur, Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering & Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, and other operational departments to provide reliable transportation services that reflect the hotel's commitment to superior luxury hospitality.

Key Responsibilties
Guest & Executive Transportation

  • Provide safe and timely transportation for hotel guests, executives, VIPs, dignitaries, and official visitors.
  • Perform airport pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Transport guests to designated locations as scheduled.
  • Follow approved transportation schedules.
  • Provide door-to-door assistance where appropriate.
  • Assist guests with boarding and alighting from vehicles.
  • Ensure passenger comfort throughout the journey.
  • Maintain confidentiality during executive assignments.

Vehicle Operation:

  • Operate assigned vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Observe all road traffic laws and regulations.
  • Practice defensive driving techniques.
  • Plan efficient travel routes.
  • Avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions.
  • Adjust routes where necessary.
  • Ensure smooth and comfortable driving.

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance:

  • Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid,tyres, lights, battery, and other essential components.
  • Report mechanical faults immediately.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and outside.
  • Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
  • Coordinate scheduledservicing.
  • Monitor fuel levels.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records.

Guest Service Excellence:

  • Welcome guests professionally.
  • Assist with luggage and personal belongings.
  • Open and close vehicle doors for guests.
  • Provide courteous communication.
  • Offer local information where appropriate.
  • Respond professionally to guest enquiries.
  • Handle guest concerns politely.
  • Represent the hotel's luxury brand positively.

Safety & Security:

  • Ensure passenger safety at all times.
  • Maintain awareness of security risks.
  • Protect guests' belongings during transportation.
  • Ensure vehicles are securely parked.
  • Report security incidents immediately.
  • Follow hotel emergency procedures.
  • Maintain emergency equipment in assigned vehicles.
  • Support emergency response activitieswhererequired.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

  • Maintain daily vehicle logbooks.
  • Record mileage accurately.
  • Record fuel purchases.
  • Maintain trip records.
  • Complete transport request documentation.
  • Prepare accident reports where applicable.
  • Maintain inspection checklists.
  • Protect confidential transportation records.

Fuel Management:

  • Monitor fuel consumption.
  • Refuel vehicles promptly.
  • Prevent fuel wastage.
  • Maintain fuel receipts.
  • Reportabnormal fuel consumption.
  • Support cost control initiatives.
  • Maintain fuel usage records.
  • Ensure accountability for fuel cards where applicable.

Vehicle Cleanliness & Presentation:

  • Ensure assigned vehicles are cleaned daily.
  • Maintain spotless interiors and exteriors.
  • Inspect vehicle appearance before every assignment.
  • Ensure air conditioning functions properly.
  • Maintain pleasant vehicle ambience.
  • Ensure all vehicle accessories are functional.
  • Replace consumables where necessary.
  • Promote luxury presentation standards.

Incident Management:

  • Respond appropriately to road emergencies.
  • Report accidents immediately.
  • Coordinate with emergency services where necessary.
  • Provide first response where trained.
  • Complete incident reports.
  • Cooperate during investigations.
  • Protect company assets during emergencies.
  • Implement corrective actions where required.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering, and other departments.
  • Coordinate transportation schedules with hotel operations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with guests.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors.
  • Support special hotel events.
  • Assist colleagues where required.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • Maintain professional conduct.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Comply with occupational health and safety policies.
  • Follow road safety regulations.
  • Maintain valid driver'slicence.
  • Comply with hotel transport policies.
  • Attend mandatory safety training.

  • Support environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote responsible driving practices.

  • Comply with all hotel policies and procedures.

  • Recommend improvements to transportation services.

  • Maintain professional driving standards.
  • Participate in performance evaluations.

  • Protect the hotel's reputation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), National Diploma (ND), or its equivalent. A Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's Degree is an added advantage.
  • 3–5 yearsof professional driving experience.
  • Experience as an executive chauffeur in a luxury hotel, hospitality organization, corporate organization, embassy, government institution, or executive transport service is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience providing VIP transportation and airport transfer services is an added advantage.
  • Professional Certifications (Required/Preferred)
  • Valid Nigerian Driver'sLicence(appropriate vehicle class).
  • Defensive Driving Certification(preferred).
  • First Aid Certification(added advantage).
  • Road Safety Training Certification(added advantage).
  • Fleet Safety Training(added advantage).
  • Goodknowledge of Abuja road networks and GPS navigation systems.
