Job Summary
- The Head Chauffeur is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and managing the hotel's executive transportation services to ensure the safe, efficient, professional, and timely transportation of guests, executives, dignitaries, VIPs, airport transfers, and official visitors. The role oversees the daily operations of the transport unit, supervises chauffeurs, manages vehicle scheduling, ensures fleet readiness, and maintains the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, and luxury guest service.
- The Head Chauffeur works closely with Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering & Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, Finance & Accounts, Human Resources, and other operational departments to ensure seamless transportation services that reflect the hotel's superior luxury hospitality standards.
Key Responsibilties
- Transport Operations Management:
- Plan and supervise all chauffeur and transportation operations.
- Develop daily transport schedules.
- Allocate vehicles and chauffeurs based on operational requirements.
- Coordinate airport transfers and executive movements.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off services.
- Monitor vehicle utilization.
- Ensure transport services operate efficiently.
- Support special events and VIP movements.
- Chauffeur Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of chauffeurs.
- Prepare duty rosters and work schedules.
- Monitor punctuality and attendance.
- Conduct daily vehicle deployment briefings.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback.
- Ensure professional appearance and grooming standards.
- Monitor compliance with hotel service standards.
- Promote teamwork and discipline.
VIP & Executive Transportation:
- Coordinate transportation for hotel executives.
- Provide chauffeur services for VIP guests and dignitaries.
- Ensure confidentiality during executive assignments.
- Plan routes to avoid delays.
- Monitor flight schedules for airport transfers.
- Provide personalized transportation services.
- Ensure comfort and security of passengers.
- Respond promptly to last-minute transport requests.
Fleet Management:
- Monitor the condition of all hotel vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, presentable, and roadworthy.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance.
- Schedule vehicle servicing.
- Monitor vehicle repairs.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
- Ensure statutory inspections are completed.
- Support fleet replacement planning.
Vehicle Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with road traffic regulations.
- Monitor validity of driver'slicences.
- Ensure vehicle insurance remains current.
- Maintain vehicle registration records.
- Verify roadworthiness certifications.
- Promote defensive driving practices.
- Ensure compliance with hotel transport policies.
- Conduct regular vehicle safety inspections.
- Fuel & Cost Management:
- Monitor fuel consumption.
- Maintain fuel usage records.
- Prevent fuel wastage.
- Monitor transport operational costs.
- Review mileage reports.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure accountability for fuel cards where applicable.
- Support transport budget management.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain driver records.
- Maintain vehicle logbooks.
- Record daily transport activities.
- Maintain maintenance schedules.
- Prepare accident reports where necessary.
- Maintain transport request records.
- Ensure documentation isaudit-ready.
- Protect confidential transportation records.
Incident & Emergency Management:
- Respond promptly to transport emergencies.
- Coordinate accident response procedures.
- Report vehicle incidents immediately.
- Ensure emergency contacts are available.
- Support emergency evacuation where required.
- Coordinate roadside assistance.
- Prepare incident investigation reports.
- Implement corrective actions.
Guest Service Excellence:
- Ensure exceptional guest transportation experiences
- Assist guests with luggage where necessary.
- Maintain professional etiquette.
- Provide courteous communication.
- Support guests with local travel information where appropriate.
- Handle guest complaints professionally.
- Ensure passenger comfort.
- Promote the hotel's luxury brand image.
Reporting:
- Prepare daily transport reports.
- Submit weekly fleet performance reports.
- Prepare monthly fuel consumption reports.
- Monitor vehicle utilization.
- Report maintenance requirements.
- Prepare driver performance reports.
- Submit incident reports.
- Recommend operational improvements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, and all operational departments.
- Coordinate with external vehicle maintenance providers.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities where required.
- Maintain positive relationships with guests and vendors.
- Support hotel events and executive functions.
- Promote teamwork across departments.
- Support operational excellence.
- Maintain effective communication.
Health, Safety & Security:
- Promote safe driving practices.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Maintain security of passengers and vehicles.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor's Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- 5 - 7 years of professional driving and transport operations experience, with 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in a luxury hotel, corporate organization, embassy, executive transport service, or hospitality environment is highly desirable.
- Experience managing executive transportation, fleet operations, chauffeur scheduling, and vehicle maintenance is required.
Professional Certifications (Preferred):
- Valid Nigerian Driver's Licence(appropriate class).
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- Fleet Management Certification(added advantage).•Transport & Logistics Certification(added advantage).
- First Aid Certification(added advantage).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and fleet management systems is an added advantage.
