Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller (FINCON) to join our team in Abuja.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management within the Oil & Gas sector, with a proven track record of overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening internal controls, and driving sound financial decision-making.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the organization's finance function, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting business growth through effective financial planning, and maintaining compliance with statutory and industry-specific financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization's day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, treasury, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide strategic financial insights to executive management.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital to support operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Support investment decisions, cost optimization initiatives, and long-term financial planning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and business performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years' progressive finance and accounting experience, with significant experience gained within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or CPA is mandatory.
  • Demonstrable experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Nigerian tax regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing audits, financial risk, and corporate governance processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
