African Youth for Peace Development and Empowerment Foundation (AFRYDEV) is a youth led non-governmental, non-profit and non-sectarian development organization established in 2013 with the mission to serve as a platform for enlightenment and empowerment of youth society for peace and development through active participation by mainstreaming their issues and concerns into national development agenda based on United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Community-Based Trainer (CBT) Volunteer

Locations: Damaturu and Fune
Employment Type: Volunteer 
Duty Stations: Damaturu LGA: Abujan Mai Mala, Murfa Kalam and Maisandari Wards
Fune LGA: Daura 3, Dogon Kuka and Kolere Wards
Position Type: Volunteer (Community-Based)
Duration: Up to 12 months, renewable based on satisfactory performance, project needs, and funding availability. 
Project: RESILAC II Project (Implemented in partnership with CARE Nigeria)

Position Overview

  • AFRYDEV is seeking dedicated and community-minded individuals to serve as Community-Based Trainer (CBT) Volunteers under the RESILAC II Project in Yobe State.
  • The CBT Volunteer will mobilize and train Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), promote financial literacy, support Income-Generating Activities (IGAs), and provide ongoing coaching to community groups to improve household livelihoods and economic resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful volunteers will:

  • Mobilize and establish VSLA groups within target communities.
  • Train group members using CARE's VSLA methodology.
  • Facilitate regular savings, loan, and social fund meetings.
  • Deliver financial literacy and business skills training.
  • Support beneficiaries to develop and strengthen income-generating activities.
  • Coach and mentor VSLA groups for sustainability.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit regular reports.
  • Promote gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding throughout project activities.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should:

  • Be a resident of one of the target wards in Damaturu or Fune LGA.
  • Possess at least an SSCE/NECO/NABTEB certificate or equivalent.
  • Be able to read, write, and perform basic calculations.
  • Be fluent in Hausa (English is an added advantage).
  • Have experience in community mobilization, savings groups, business support, or volunteer work (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Demonstrate integrity, good communication skills, and commitment to community service.
  • Be willing to undergo project training and apply AFRYDEV's methodologies.
