Job Title: Mechanical Foreman

Summary
- The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating mechanical maintenance activities within the pellet plant to ensure reliable operation of all mechanical equipment.
- The role involves planning, assigning, and overseeing maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and enhance equipment performance, while ensuring safety and adherence to maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities within the ammonia plant, including inspections, repairs, overhauls, and preventive maintenance.
- Allocate work to mechanical technicians and fitters based on skills, priorities, and plant requirements.
- Ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves, fans, and associated mechanical systems.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate timely troubleshooting and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to plan and execute preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Prepare maintenance reports, maintain accurate records of completed work, and update maintenance documentation.
- Assist in spare parts planning, material requisition, and inventory control to ensure equipment availability.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to mechanical technicians and junior personnel.
- Participate in root cause analysis, reliability improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement programs to enhance equipment performance.
- Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, overhauls, and emergency maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and within schedule.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role in a pellet plant or similar heavy process industry.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning tools and computerized maintenance systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Proven commitment to safety and quality.
