Job Title: Tax Consultant

Locations: Rivers, Delta and Lagos

Job Description

• Provide strategic tax advisory services to clients on corporate, indirect, international, and personal tax matters while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Prepare, review, and file tax returns, tax computations, and statutory reports in accordance with regulatory requirements and filing deadlines.
• Conduct tax planning and develop tax-efficient strategies that optimize clients' tax positions while minimizing risks.
• Represent clients during tax audits, investigations, disputes, and engagements with tax authorities, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and relevant State Internal Revenue Services.
• Perform tax due diligence, tax health checks, and compliance reviews to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Interpret and advise clients on changes in tax legislation, regulatory policies, and emerging tax issues that may impact business operations.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, business restructuring, and cross-border transactions by providing tax advisory and transaction support.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, identify business development opportunities, and contribute to proposal preparation and client presentations.
• Mentor and supervise junior tax professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery, technical excellence, and professional development.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive tax solutions while ensuring adherence to professional standards, ethical practices, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 7 – 12 years of progressive experience in tax consulting, tax compliance, or tax advisory services.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, IFRS, and applicable regulatory frameworks preferably within a reputable firm.
