Job Title: Production Chemist

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified and experienced Production Chemist to join its pharmaceutical manufacturing team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating manufacturing operations, ensuring production processes comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • The ideal candidate should possess sound technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality pharmaceutical products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor daily manufacturing activities in accordance with approved production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company quality policies.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain production records, equipment logs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Monitor critical production parameters to ensure consistent product quality and process efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) teams to ensure timely sampling, testing, and product release.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, operation, and maintenance of production equipment and manufacturing areas.
  • Investigate production deviations, assist with root cause analysis, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor raw material usage, minimize process waste, and improve production efficiency.
  • Train and guide production personnel on GMP, safety procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Participate in process validation, internal audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental health and safety (EHS) policies within the production area.

Skills and Qualifications
Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Post-NYSC experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Sound knowledge of GMP, pharmaceutical production processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and production documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, on-site position based in Lagos.
  • Manufacturing environment requiring strict adherence to GMP and workplace safety procedures.
  • May require occasional overtime or shift work depending on production schedules.
