Job Title: Senior Purchasing Officer

Job Summary

• Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Officer to oversee the procurement of raw materials, engineering equipment, production consumables, machinery, spare parts, and services required to support its cable manufacturing operations.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, negotiating favourable commercial terms, ensuring uninterrupted material availability, and driving cost optimisation while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement process for raw materials, engineering components, production consumables, machinery, spare parts, and operational services.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that support uninterrupted manufacturing operations while achieving cost optimisation.
• Source and procure cable manufacturing raw materials, including copper rods, aluminium, PVC compounds, XLPE compounds, steel tapes, aluminium tapes, packaging materials, and other production inputs.
• Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with local and international suppliers to ensure quality, competitive pricing, and timely delivery.
• Prepare and evaluate Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), supplier quotations, and commercial recommendations.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, delivery schedules, and framework agreements with suppliers.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Logistics teams to forecast material requirements and support production planning.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure continuous material availability while maintaining optimum stock levels.
• Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement supplier improvement initiatives.
• Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supplier developments to identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, supplier databases, contracts, and procurement reports.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing & Supply, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years' procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a senior purchasing or procurement role within a cable manufacturing company.
• Candidates must have hands-on procurement experience within the cable manufacturing industry. Applications from candidates without cable manufacturing experience will not be considered.
• Proven experience sourcing cable manufacturing raw materials, engineering equipment, machinery, spare parts, and production consumables.
• Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, inventory planning, and procurement best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial agreements and achieve measurable cost savings.
• Good understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, and inventory management.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP procurement systems.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Candidates residing within reasonable proximity to Lagos Free Zone, Ibeju-Lekki, will have an added advantage.
• Only candidates with proven procurement experience in the cable manufacturing industry will be considered.
