DLAB Medicare Services Limited is a new medicare company engaged in the business of operating a medical/pathological testing laboratory, scan centers andhealthclubs and deals in all types of laboratory and medical equipments and medical consumables and supplies.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Resident Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Resident Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the laboratory's daily operations, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of all laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
  • The role oversees, mentors, and develops laboratory personnel, manages laboratory resources and operational performance, ensures compliance with professional and regulatory standards, and fosters a culture of excellence in customer service to consistently deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality diagnostic services

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient identification, consent, preparation, and specimen collection, ensuring specimen integrity and compliance with established collection procedures for in-house and referral testing.
  • Perform and supervise laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures, ensuring accurate analysis, reliable results, and adherence to laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and test documentation using paper-based and electronic laboratory information systems.
  • Conduct quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance verification of laboratory equipment to ensure testing accuracy and operational reliability.
  • Lead day-to-day laboratory operations by supervising staff, coordinating schedules, assigning work, and overseeing facilities, equipment, documentation, software, inventory, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Locum Medical Laboratory Scientist to ensure uninterrupted operations and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring stock levels, procuring consumables and reagents, and ensuring continuous availability of testing supplies.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory and administrative staff on laboratory procedures, equipment operation, quality standards, safety practices, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, Quality Management Systems (QMS), health and safety requirements, infection prevention protocols, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate equipment servicing, calibration, and validation to maintain compliance with performance, quality, and accuracy standards.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation activities while serving as the primary liaison with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and other regulatory authorities.
  • Partner with Management to support business development, client acquisition, and marketing initiatives by promoting diagnostic services and strengthening relationships with healthcare providers and corporate clients.
  • Prepare weekly operational reports summarizing laboratory performance, quality metrics, equipment status, inventory, staffing, compliance activities, operational issues, and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Managing Director in support of the laboratory's operational and strategic objectives.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) only
  • 2 - 5 years post NYSC work experience in a hospital-based or medical laboratory setting.
  • Valid/Current Practitioner License issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • Computer literacy and experience with the use of at least one medical laboratory software/laboratory information management system and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Email.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and the use of laboratory equipment.
  • Familiar with the use of remote collaborative tools – Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.
  • Leadership quality and the ability to supervise junior staff, working as an essential team player to strengthen the laboratory team, is highly desirable.
  • Must be of good moral character, friendly with good communication skills and who can guarantee and ensure excellent communication with patients, customers and staff.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must maintain a valid annual Practicing License issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • The Company will cover the cost of the annual practitioner licensing renewal.
  • Candidates must currently reside in Ibadan, Oyo State, or be willing to relocate prior to commencement of employment.

Salary

  • N250,000.00 per month including 13 Month Salary/Christmas Bonus (Half of One Month Salary) after one year of employment.
