Job Title: Human Resource Manager
Location: Lagos
Job Purpose
- The Human Resource Manager will lead and coordinate HR operations across the Group’s fintech companies, ensuring each subsidiary is adequately staffed, compliant, and supported by consistent HR policies, while allowing for the fast-moving, tech-driven culture typical of fintech businesses.
- The role owns the full employee lifecycle — workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and compliance — across a multi-entity group structure, and partners closely with product, engineering, risk, and compliance leadership on people matters unique to regulated financial technology businesses.
Key Responsibilties
HR Strategy & Group Coordination:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the Group’s growth plans across its fintech subsidiaries.
- Standardise core HR policies, structures, and grading frameworks across entities while allowing for role- and product-specific flexibility (e.g. engineering vs. operations vs. compliance teams).
- Act as the primary HR business partner to subsidiary CEOs/heads, advising on organisational design, workforce planning, and change management.
- Track and report Group-wide HR metrics (headcount, attrition, cost-to-hire, time-to-fill, engagement) to executive management.
Talent Acquisition:
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for technical (engineering, product, data) and non-technical roles across all subsidiaries, including senior/leadership hires.
- Build sourcing pipelines suited to a competitive fintech talent market, including tech talent communities, universities, and specialist recruiters.
- Design and continuously improve structured interview and assessment processes, including technical/competency evaluation in partnership with hiring managers.
- Manage onboarding programmes that get new hires productive quickly across distributed/hybrid teams.
Compensation, Benefits & Performance:
- Design and administer competitive, market-benchmarked compensation structures suited to fintech talent (including any equity/long-term incentive components, where applicable).
- Manage payroll oversight, benefits administration, and statutory compliance (PAYE, pension, NHF, NSITF) across subsidiaries.
- Own the performance management cycle — goal-setting, mid-year and annual reviews, performance improvement plans — across all business units.
- Support the design of KPIs/OKRs in partnership with department heads, appropriate to fast-changing product and engineering roadmaps.
Employee Relations & Culture:
- Manage employee relations matters, grievances, and disciplinary processes fairly and consistently across the Group.
- Champion a high-performance, innovation-oriented culture appropriate to fintech, while maintaining the discipline and controls expected of regulated financial businesses.
- Drive engagement initiatives suited to a mixed workforce of technical and business staff, including hybrid/remote employees.
Compliance, Risk & Governance:
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with Nigerian labour law and relevant regulatory requirements for fintech/financial institutions (e.g. CBN guidelines where applicable to licensed entities).
- Work closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams on matters with HR implications — background checks, conflicts of interest, whistleblowing, and data protection (NDPR) as it relates to employee data.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready HR records and documentation across all subsidiaries.
- Support fit-and-proper and regulatory-filing requirements for key management personnel, where the subsidiary is a CBN-licensed or regulated entity.
Learning & Organisational Development:
- Identify skills gaps and coordinate learning and development programmes, including technical upskilling, leadership development, and compliance training.
- Support succession planning for critical and leadership roles across the Group.
Requirements
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
- CIPM, CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent professional HR certification required.
Experience:
- 7–10 years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or HR business partner role.
- Experience working within fintech, financial services, or technology-driven organisations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing HR across multiple business units, subsidiaries, or a group structure.
- Familiarity with recruiting and retaining technical talent (engineering, product, data science) in a competitive market.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour law, statutory compliance requirements, and (where relevant) CBN/financial-sector regulatory expectations for HR.
- Sound understanding of compensation benchmarking, HRIS/payroll systems, and HR analytics/reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence technical and non-technical leaders alike.
- High level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential and compliance-sensitive information.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities typical of fintech.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key Relationships:
- Internal: Group CEO/Executive Management, Subsidiary CEOs/Heads, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Risk, Product & Engineering leadership.
- External: Regulatory bodies (as applicable), recruitment partners, HR/benefits vendors, training providers.
