Originally specialised in underwater NDT and inspection of offshore drilling rigs, shipping vessels, platforms and FPSO for classification societies such as ABS, DNV, BV, Lloyds, etc. Since then, we have expanded our services to carry out all types of Offshore and Onshore construction, inspection, salvage, support and maintenance.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Diesel Engine Service Engineer

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• This role will be extensively involved in the maintenance, overhaul, and servicing of diesel engines and machinery onboard our vessels, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance on marine diesel engines and associated machinery
• Perform full engine overhauls, repairs, and troubleshooting onboard vessels
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions
• Ensure all servicing work is carried out in line with manufacturer specifications and maritime safety regulations
• Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and inspection records
• Coordinate with vessel crew and technical teams to minimize downtime
• Support spare parts planning and inventory management for engine maintenance

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Diesel Engine Service Engineer, preferably in a marine or offshore environment
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, overhaul procedures, and troubleshooting
• Relevant technical/engineering qualification or certification
• Willingness to work onboard vessels as required
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards

Technical & Training Requirements:

• HND/B.Eng/OND in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
• OEM-specific training/certification on diesel engines such as MAN, Wartsila, Caterpillar, MTU, Cummins, Yanmar, or similar
• STCW certification (Basic Safety Training, as applicable to role)
• Familiarity with turbochargers, fuel injection systems, governors, and engine control/monitoring systems
• Competence in reading and interpreting technical manuals, engine drawings, and maintenance schedules
• Working knowledge of planned maintenance systems (PMS) and condition monitoring techniques
• Hands-on experience with engine alignment, overhaul, and performance testing
• Basic knowledge of HSE practices and permit-to-work systems in a marine/offshore environment
• Relevant seagoing certificate of competency (where applicable) is an advantage
