Description

  • We are seeking an experienced Engineering Training Manager to lead the development of our engineering workforce, establish a robust technical competency framework, and drive continuous learning across the organization.

Role Summary

  • The Engineering Training Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's technical training and competency management strategy for engineering, operations, maintenance, and field personnel.
  • The successful candidate will identify competency gaps, design structured learning pathways, coordinate technical development initiatives, and ensure our workforce possesses the knowledge, practical skills, and certifications required to safely and effectively deliver upstream oil and gas services.
  • This role will play a key part in building a high-performing technical workforce capable of supporting business growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the company's Technical Training and Competency Management Framework.
  • Design structured technical learning and career development programmes for engineers, technicians, operators, mechanics, electricians, instrumentation personnel, and field specialists.
  • Conduct organization-wide technical training needs assessments.
  • Develop competency matrices, skills assessments, training roadmaps, and certification pathways for all technical roles.
  • Coordinate internal and external technical training programmes, workshops, and competency assessments.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, HSE, and Business Units to identify capability gaps and implement targeted development plans.
  • Establish onboarding and development programmes for graduate engineers and newly recruited technical personnel.
  • Develop practical coaching, mentoring, and field competency assessment programmes.
  • Monitor compliance with mandatory technical certifications and client competency requirements.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using measurable performance indicators and operational outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate training records, competency databases, and individual development plans.
  • Ensure all technical development initiatives align with industry best practices, client expectations, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support business growth by strengthening the organization's technical capability to execute existing and future projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Chemical, Instrumentation, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in engineering, upstream oil and gas operations, technical training, competency management, or workforce capability development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering technical training programmes for engineering and field personnel.
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil and gas operations, production facilities, maintenance, well services, commissioning, asset integrity, or project execution.
  • Experience developing competency frameworks, technical curricula, and skills assessment programmes.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies and possession of recognized technical certifications will be an added advantage.
