Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

  • The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of the company’s fleet through effective maintenance planning, execution, and control.
  • The role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, workshop operations, vendor management, and spare parts control to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespan across a large, multi-location fleet.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all vehicles (bikes, vans, trucks).  
  • Establish maintenance schedules aligned with usage patterns and manufacturer standards.  
  • Drive a proactive maintenance culture to reduce breakdowns and operational disruptions.  

Workshop & Technical Operations

  • Oversee in-house workshops and coordinate third-party service providers.  
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet quality, safety, and turnaround time standards.  
  • Standardize repair and servicing processes across all regions.  

Fleet Reliability & Downtime Reduction:

  • Monitor vehicle health and ensure high fleet availability.  
  • Diagnose recurring faults and implement root cause solutions.  
  • Track and reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and breakdown frequency.  

Spare Parts & Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory of spare parts, lubricants, and consumables.  
  • Ensure availability of critical parts while minimizing excess stock and wastage.  
  • Implement controls to prevent theft, misuse, or stock discrepancies.  

Cost Control & Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.  
  • Track and optimize maintenance cost per vehicle.  
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors and suppliers.  

Vendor & OEM Management:

  • Manage relationships with external workshops, OEMs, and spare parts suppliers.  
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, quality standards, and turnaround times.  
  • Evaluate vendor performance and drive continuous improvement.  

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthiness and regulatory requirements.  
  • Enforce safety standards in workshops and during maintenance activities.  
  • Maintain proper documentation of inspections, servicing, and repairs.  

Technology & Reporting:

  • Utilize fleet maintenance systems to track service history, repairs, and costs.  
  • Generate reports on maintenance KPIs and fleet health.  
  • Use data insights to improve maintenance planning and decision-making.  

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and supervise technicians, mechanics, and maintenance supervisors.  
  • Provide technical training and upskilling for maintenance staff.  
  • Enforce discipline, accountability, and performance standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.  
  • 7–12 years’ experience in fleet maintenance or automotive engineering.  
  • At least 3–5 years in a managerial role overseeing workshops or fleet maintenance.  
  • Experience managing large fleets (bikes, vans, trucks) in a logistics environment.
