We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Turbine Operator

Location: Apapa, Lagos

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of machinery which generates power.
  • They ensure the safety of the operations and monitor operations to detect problems and react to emergency situations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operating and maintaining machinery that generates power.
  • Ensuring the safety of the operations.
  • Monitoring and controlling the operation of steam turbines, main generators, and auxiliary turbine generating equipment.
  • Starting, stopping, controlling, and monitoring steam turbines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plant equipment.
  • Inspecting turbines, generators, boilers, and other equipment.
  • Making necessary repairs or modifications.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining parts and equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Qualifications

  • B.Eng. or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in boiler design, operation, and maintenance within a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Membership with COREN, NSE and any other recognized Engineering professional body (e.g., PMP, ACEN, NAE, APWEN).
  • Proven experience in power systems operations or a similar role is highly advantageous.

Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the operational mechanics of power plant systems and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing complex production data and performance metrics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting findings and making recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software for design, analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Proven experience in power plant operations or similar roles.
  • Solid understanding of power generation technologies and energy management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for engineering analysis and data management.
  • Valid engineering license is preferred.
