We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Drilling Operations Superintendent

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Role Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the operational execution of our barge, land, and tender-assist drilling units, ensuring every well is delivered safely from spud to total depth (TD).
  • This role is responsible for driving operational excellence through effective crew mobilization, rigorous competency assurance, transparent non-productive time (NPT) reporting, and unwavering compliance with industry standards. If you are passionate about operational integrity, safety, and delivering outstanding drilling performance, we invite you to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Delivery Outcomes:

  • Hold uptime ≥ 95% (ME-08-attributable NPT ≤ 5%) on every active rig.
  • Deliver rig moves and tows on plan — the schedule risk that defines land and swamp campaigns.
  • Build the crew pool with ME-17 so activation is never gated by people.

Functional / Operational Responsibilities:

  • W2 owner: daily operations oversight, morning calls, MOC discipline, marine interfaces on floating units, handover certificates.
  • W7 owner: crew matrices, competency verification, rotations, POB control, mobilization/demobilization.
  • NPT management: coding accuracy (the commercial record), trend analysis, corrective actions.
  • Well control readiness: drills, BOP test schedules (with DW-05), response leadership on events.

Governance, Controls & Compliance:

  • Enforce the three-key pre-spud check (acceptance certificate, verified crew, permits) without exception.
  • Sign daily reports; falsification is gross misconduct; resume-after-stop-work authority per W2.
  • Fatigue and rotation rules enforced; no double-shifting of drillers.

Stakeholder & Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Rig managers and crews; client drilling supervisors ("company men"); ME-16 HSE advisers on site.
  • ME-17 for crew pipeline; DW-05 for equipment; DW-04 for program execution; marine authorities for barge/tender ops.

Required Qualifications

  • B.Sc. / B.Eng. or HND in engineering, or equivalent rig-path progression with certifications.
  • IWCF Supervisor-level (current) required; BOSIET/HUET for marine locations.

Experience:

  • 12+ years rig operations including toolpusher/rig manager time on swamp barge or land rigs; multi-rig supervision experience preferred.
  • Documented well-control event experience (response, not just certification).

Technical Skills & Systems:

  • IADC reporting; NPT analysis; rig move/tow planning; crew management at scale; BOP systems; marine ops basics for floating units.

Behavioral Competencies (Obek Values):

  • Innovation — improves every program, procedure and rig-up they touch; leaves things better documented than they found them.
  • Excellence — “the well doesn’t care about excuses”; program discipline, daily-report discipline and the statutory clock are sacred.
  • Collaboration — a credible partner to operators, crews, regulators, service partners and the other MEs.
  • Integrity & discretion — reports honestly (NPT, incidents, costs) and handles client well data with absolute confidentiality.
  • Safety of Personnel — lives the stop-work authority; no barrel, no day-rate and no deadline outranks a life.
