We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Construction Supervisor

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Construction Supervisor to oversee and coordinate construction activities across our projects.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved engineering specifications, project schedules, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects successfully while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Planning & Supervision:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily construction, maintenance, shutdown, and modification activities.
  • Coordinate execution of mechanical, piping, structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation works as assigned.
  • Ensure work complies with approved IFC drawings, specifications, method statements, work packs, and project schedules.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to achieve planned work targets.
  • Monitor work progress and implement recovery actions where delays occur.

Site Coordination:

  • Coordinate activities with Engineering, Operations, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Logistics, and Commissioning teams.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings and progress reviews.
  • Resolve field engineering issues and escalate unresolved technical matters.
  • Ensure construction interfaces between disciplines are effectively managed.

Quality Management:

  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable international standards.
  • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel and client representatives.
  • Verify completion of inspections, testing, punch-list rectification, and turnover documentation.
  • Review and approve completed work before requesting client inspections.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure strict compliance with HSE policies.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and site safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), confined space entry, lifting operations, working at height, and hot work procedures.
  • Stop unsafe work where imminent risks exist and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Workforce Management:

  • Supervise foremen, technicians, craftsmen, and subcontractors.
  • Assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop field personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company policies.

Resource & Schedule Management:

  • Monitor availability and utilization of manpower, materials, tools, and construction equipment.
  • Coordinate material requirements with Procurement and Warehouse teams.
  • Support construction planning and scheduling activities.
  • Report resource shortages and recommend corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports.
  • Monitor productivity, construction milestones, and work completion status.
  • Maintain site records, manpower reports, equipment utilization logs, and material consumption records.
  • Report project risks, delays, technical issues, and corrective actions to management.

Project Close-Out:

  • Coordinate mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning support, and project handover activities.
  • Ensure punch-list items are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Verify completion of as-built documentation and quality dossiers.
  • Support project close-out and lessons learned reviews.

Qualifications

  • HND / B.Eng. / B.Sc. in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in construction supervision or project management are advantageous.
  • Valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET/FOET, HUET) where applicable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of construction or maintenance experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, marine, or heavy industrial projects.
  • 3–5 years in a supervisory role managing multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Experience in EPC/EPCM projects, brownfield modifications, shutdowns, commissioning, and offshore/onshore facilities.
  • Proven experience managing contractors and client interfaces.
