We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Compliance Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • This position has the responsibility to support the implementation and monitoring of the Company's compliance framework by ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, internal policies, ethical standards, and governance requirements across all EPC projects and corporate operations.
  • The role proactively identifies compliance risks, conducts reviews, drives awareness, and promotes a culture of integrity and accountability.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Regulatory & Statutory Compliance:

  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, industry regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date compliance obligations register and track regulatory changes.
  • Coordinate statutory filings, licenses, permits, and regulatory certifications.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and support external compliance inspections and audits.

Policy & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, and delegated authority limits.
  • Review business processes to identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Support periodic policy reviews and updates to align with legal and business requirements.
  • Promote ethical conduct and adherence to the Company's Code of Business Conduct.

Compliance Monitoring & Assurance:

  • Conduct routine compliance reviews across projects, procurement, finance, HR, logistics, HSE, and operations.
  • Perform compliance testing and site audits to verify adherence to approved processes.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from audits and investigations.
  • Prepare compliance reports, dashboards, and risk updates for Management.

Risk Management:

  • Identify compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support the maintenance of the Compliance Risk Register.
  • Escalate significant compliance breaches and emerging risks promptly

Investigations & Incident Management:

  • Support investigations into policy violations, unethical conduct, fraud allegations, and compliance breaches.
  • Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare investigation reports.
  • Monitor implementation of disciplinary or corrective actions where applicable.

Training & Awareness:

  • Deliver compliance awareness programs and ethics training across the organization.
  • Conduct induction sessions on Company policies and compliance requirements.
  • Promote a speak-up culture and awareness of whistleblowing procedures.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate compliance records, registers, and evidence of compliance activities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports.
  • Monitor compliance with KPIs and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Compliance:

  • Monitor compliance with client contractual requirements on EPC projects.
  • Support compliance with HSE, quality, environmental, labour, and project governance standards.
  • Participate in project mobilization and periodic compliance reviews where required.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Comply with occupational health, safety, quality and environmental policies, processes and procedures and applicable laws/legal requirements across the Oilserv business.
  • Take responsibility for their health & safety and that of stakeholders across the Oilserv business.

Qualifications (Skills, Experience, and Knowledge)

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
  • ISO 37301 Compliance Management Systems
  • ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management Systems
  • 3–6 years' experience in Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Legal, or Internal Controls.
  • Experience within the EPC, oil and gas, construction, engineering, or infrastructure industry is preferred
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
