Lorache works cut across multiple industries, including the consumer goods, finance, capital market, pharmaceutical, telecommunication, entertainment and leisure sectors, etc.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Category Manager

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer

Job Purpose

• To manage assigned product categories, ensuring optimal assortment, pricing, promotions, and supplier relationships to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, discounts, and promotional support, Responsible for delivering agreed gross margin for each category.
• Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to drive category growth.
• Plan and execute product launches, campaigns, and promotions; Responsible for category profitability initiatives.
• Responsible for formalizing files and agreements/contracts with Category vendors/suppliers and keeping them up to date.
• Track profitability of each product from vendors and Accuracy of Vendor details
• Collaborate with the marketing team with the supervision of Chief Commercial Officer in ensuring objectives are achieved.
• Category performance and provide insights for decision-making ; Placing of orders (coherence of the ordered quantities, specifications, minimum inventory per store, etc)
• Ensure suitability of the price fixing organization with the competition and the market trend, through an efficient management of the commercial strategy and the pricing policy.
• Responsible for the product assortment relevance to store fleet& Manage inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
• Logistics follow up: Responsible for the warehouse management services, follow up of the supply chain services – transport and product returns .
• Check monthly with account payable, status of vendor’s payment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related fields
• 3-5 years’ experience in category management or merchandising within retail/FMCG.
• Proven track record in supplier negotiation and category growth.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical, commercial acumen and integrity.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
• Strategic thinking, efficient execution and result orientation.
