Job Title: Medical Officer II, Paediatrics

About the role
- This is an opportunity to join a modern, multidisciplinary clinical environment committed to safe, effective and patient-centred care. The role involves providing clinical care in paediatrics under appropriate supervision, managing patients across out-patient and in-patient settings and contributing to the safe and effective running of the paediatrics service.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients in paediatrics with decreasing levels of supervision, appropriate to the level of the role, escalating appropriately.
- Participate in clinics, ward rounds, on-call rotas and procedures as required, contributing to audit and quality-improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
- Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other services and supporting managed-care/HMO processes through evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution. Completion of the required national housemanship/internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of post-NYSC clinical experience, including time at Medical Officer I grade or equivalent. Demonstrable clinical competence relevant to paediatrics, managing patients with decreasing levels of supervision.
Required skills:
- Clinical care in paediatrics
- Ability to manage patients in out-patient and in-patient settings
- Accurate clinical record-keeping
- MDCN registration/licence
- Evidence-based, cost-effective medical practice
- Post-registration clinical experience as a medical practitioner beyond entry level.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting relevant to paediatrics.
