Job Title: Managed Care Officer - HMOs

Location: Abuja

About the role

  • To provide clinical occupational health services to the workforce, including health assessments, surveillance and advice on work-related health matters, supporting a safe and healthy working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic and fitness-to-work medical assessments.
  • Deliver health surveillance programmes and identify work-related health risks.
  • Assess and manage work-related illness and injury, and advise on return to work and adjustments.
  • Provide occupational health advice to employees, management and the HSE function, supporting workforce health and wellbeing.
  • Maintain confidential occupational health records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with professional, data-protection and internal policy requirements.

Requirements
Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-NYSC clinical experience, including relevant exposure to occupational health practice. Substantial post-registration clinical experience, including experience at medical/dental officer level.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of occupational health practice, health surveillance and fitness-to-work assessment.Understanding of work-related illness and injury and of HSE interfaces.
  • Ability to advise on workforce health and return-to-work matters
  • Sound, confidential clinical record-keeping.Effective communication with employees and colleagues.
  • Demonstrable competence in the independent clinical management of patients in occupational health, and in supporting and supervising junior medical staff.

Nice to have:

  • Postgraduate training, membership examinations or a higher degree relevant to the area of practice.
  • Evidence of progress toward a postgraduate fellowship (e.g. primary or /part examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College or the West African College).
  • Additional training relevant to the area of practice (e.g. life support, clinical skills, quality improvement).
  • Experience in a multi-specialist hospital, corporate hospital network, HMO-facing health system, public-sector hospital or large institutional healthcare environment.
