Job Title: Consultant, General Surgery

Location: Abuja

Job Summary

  • A reputable multi-specialist hospital in Nigeria is recruiting to fill the role of Consultant, General Surgery.
  • This is an opportunity to join a modern, multidisciplinary clinical environment committed to safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
  • The Consultant will provide specialist general surgery care across the patient pathway, lead the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients in out-patient, in-patient, and referral settings, while supervising and training junior medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in general surgery, including complex cases, and act as a senior point of referral for junior medical staff.
  • Supervise, teach and support the training and development of senior medical officers, medical officers, and trainees.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and patient-safety activities.
  • Coordinate care with other specialties, diagnostics, pharmacy, nursing, allied health, and managed-care/HMO functions, applying evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-fellowship specialist experience in the relevant discipline. Experience in providing specialist general surgery care and supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Education: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution. A registrable postgraduate specialist qualification (Fellowship) in the relevant discipline.
