Job Title: Laboratory Scientist

About the role
- We are recruiting to fill the role of Laboratory Scientist.

- This role involves performing and quality-assuring laboratory testing accurately and safely, supporting patient care and the running of the laboratory service.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across relevant laboratory areas to professional standards.
- Apply biosafety and quality-control standards in day-to-day practice.
- Maintain equipment readiness for own work and report faults promptly.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and support reporting/result workflows.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognised institution. Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of post-registration / post-internship experience in the relevant profession; newly registered practitioners may be considered.
Required skills:
- Working knowledge of laboratory quality, biosafety and specimen-handling standards appropriate to the role.
- Competence in specimen handling and testing.Sound understanding of quality control and biosafety.
- Competent operation and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Accurate record-keeping and competent use of laboratory information systems.
