Job Title: Deputy Chief Radiographer

Location: Abuja

About the Role

  • Our client is recruiting to fill the role of Deputy Chief Radiographer.
  • This position provides senior professional leadership of the radiography service, deputizing for the head of imaging on radiography team leadership, radiation-safety governance, and service quality.
  • The role involves overseeing and coordinating imaging services, ensuring radiation and equipment safety compliance, and managing staff development and rostering.

Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the head of imaging, providing senior professional leadership of the imaging service.
  • Lead imaging rostering, workload allocation and skill-mix across modalities / sections to maintain service continuity.
  • Oversee radiation-safety governance, audit and compliance, and lead imaging quality assurance and external quality processes.
  • Lead equipment governance and vendor / service-provider liaison, including readiness, maintenance planning, and procurement input.
  • Lead incident management, investigation and escalation within the imaging service.
  • Supervise, appraise and develop senior and junior imaging staff, and coordinate CPD (Continuing Professional Development).

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Radiography / Medical Radiography (B.Rad / BSc Radiography) from a recognised institution, or an equivalent recognised radiography qualification.
  • Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 11 years of post-registration experience in the relevant profession, including progressively senior experience at Assistant Chief grade or equivalent.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in radiography practice.
  • Experience supervising and supporting junior radiography staff.
  • Experience contributing to quality assurance and service improvement.

Nice To Have:

  • Strong knowledge of radiographic practice across modalities and of radiation protection.
  • Ability to lead / supervise rostering, skill-mix and modality supervision.
  • Ability to lead radiation-safety audit, QA and equipment / vendor liaison.
  • Incident investigation and escalation skills.
  • Staff supervision, appraisal and development skills.
