Job Title: Principal Optometrist

Location: Abuja

About the Role

•  This position offers an opportunity to join a modern, multidisciplinary clinical environment dedicated to safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
• The Principal Optometrist will provide advanced optometric practice, support, and guidance to junior optometry staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual function.
• Diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions, and refer appropriately.

Prescribe and oversee optical and therapeutic management within the scope of practice.

• Support and guide junior optometry staff as assigned.
• Maintain accurate clinical records.

Required skills:

• Knowledge of optometric assessment and clinical eye care appropriate to the role.Ability to diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions.

• Sound clinical record-keeping.Effective communication with patients and colleagues.Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements
Education

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) from a recognised institution.
• Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in optometry, including post-registration experience beyond entry level and experience supporting and guiding junior staff.

Nice to have:

• Training in clinical coding (e.g. ICD), health information systems or medical records auditing.
• Knowledge of certification relevant to the area of practice.Membership of a recognised professional association.
