Job Title: Principal Nursing Officer (Out-Patient)

- A reputable multi-specialist hospital in Nigeria is recruiting for the role of Principal Nursing Officer (Out-Patient).
- This senior role involves providing experienced nursing care, supporting junior staff, and overseeing clinical activities in the out-patient department.

Responsibilities
- Provide experienced nursing care and act as a senior clinical resource within the stream.
- Supervise and support junior nursing staff and trainees.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients within the stream.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely nursing records and apply infection-prevention and clinical-governance standards.
- Maintain valid NMCN registration/licence and MCPDP compliance, and comply with internal policies.
- Act as senior resource for triage decisions and same-day clinical escalation from consulting rooms.
- Coordinate injection, dressing, and minor-procedure clinics within the stream.
Requirements
Education:
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from an accredited School/College of Nursing, or Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc/BSc Nursing) from a recognised university. Completion of required internship and NYSC for degree holders, or valid exemption where applicable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of post-registration nursing experience including experience in out-patient nursing or similar services, and working within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
Required skills:
- Nursing practice relevant to out-patient nursing
- Competence in nursing assessment and care planning
- Safe medication administration
- Understanding of patient safety and infection prevention
- Accurate nursing record-keeping
- Competence in clinical systems
- Effective communication.
