Job Title: Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (Out-Patient)

About the role
- A reputable multi-specialist hospital in Nigeria is recruiting for the role of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (Out-Patient) to provide senior nursing supervision, coordinate care and supervise nursing staff in a modern, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior nursing leadership and supervision within the stream.
- Supervise, mentor and appraise nursing staff and support their development.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely nursing records and apply infection-prevention and clinical-governance standards.
- Maintain valid NMCN registration/licence and MCPDP compliance, and comply with internal policies.
- Act as senior resource for triage decisions and same-day clinical escalation from consulting rooms.
- Coordinate injection, dressing and minor-procedure clinics within the stream.
Requirements
Education:
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from an accredited School/College of Nursing, or a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc/BSc Nursing) from a recognised university.
- Completion of any required orientation/internship and NYSC (for degree holders), or a valid exemption where applicable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of post-registration (NMCN) nursing experience, including experience at Principal Nursing Officer grade or equivalent.
- Substantial post-registration nursing experience.
- Experience supervising and supporting nursing staff within out-patient nursing or comparable services.
Required skills:
- Ability to lead, supervise and coordinate nursing staff within the stream.
- Knowledge of nursing practice relevant to out-patient nursing appropriate to the role.
- Competence in nursing assessment, care planning and safe medication administration.
- Understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance.
- Accurate nursing record-keeping and competent use of clinical systems.
- Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.
