Job Title: Chief Physiotherapist

Location: Abuja

Job Summary

  • This position requires leading the physiotherapy service, providing professional leadership, setting rehabilitation care standards, and ensuring compliance with MRTB requirements.
  • The role involves clinical governance, staff development, resource management, and multidisciplinary coordination in a modern, multidisciplinary clinical environment committed to safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership of the physiotherapy service and set standards of rehabilitation care.
  • Lead service planning, rostering, caseload allocation and skill-mix across the team.
  • Lead clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and outcome monitoring for the service.
  • Ensure compliance with MRTB requirements and inspection/practice standards.
  • Lead, supervise, appraise and develop physiotherapy staff and coordinate CPD.
  • Manage equipment, resources and interfaces with other clinical services.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy / BSc Physiotherapy (or BMR-PT / equivalent recognised qualification) from a recognised institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of post-registration experience in the relevant profession, including experience at Principal grade or equivalent.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in physiotherapy practice, including experience at a senior or supervisory level.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of MRTB requirements for physiotherapy practice
  • Strong knowledge of physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a rehabilitation team and service
  • Understanding of clinical governance, audit, MRTB requirements and outcomes
  • Staff leadership, appraisal and development skills
  • Effective communication and service-management skills
  • Demonstrable experience leading or coordinating a physiotherapy team or unit.
  • Experience in service organisation, quality assurance and the supervision and appraisal of staff.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
  • Experience preparing for or responding to regulatory, quality, audit or accreditation reviews.
