Job Title: Tax & Regulatory Compliance Officer

Role Summary
- The Tax & Regulatory Compliance Officer is responsible for managing clients' statutory compliance obligations by ensuring timely registration, filing, remittance, and processing of regulatory matters with relevant government agencies.
- The officer ensures compliance with applicable tax, pension, and corporate regulations while maintaining accurate records and providing professional support to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Pension Compliance (PENCOM):
- Process and submit employer registration with the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).
- Facilitate Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) registration where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with the Pension Reform Act.
- Liaise with PENCOM and PFAs on client matters.
Pension & PAYE Administration:
- Prepare monthly pension contribution schedules.
- Process pension remittances.
- Compute and prepare monthly PAYE schedules.
- Process PAYE remittances to relevant State Internal Revenue Services.
- Maintain payment evidence and reconciliation reports.
Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Services:
- Company incorporation.
- Registration of Business Names and Incorporated Trustees.
- Filing of Annual Returns.
- Post-incorporation filings.
- Changes in directors, shareholders, and company secretary.
- Increase in share capital.
- Amendment of company records.
- Name reservation and availability search.
- Certified True Copies (CTCs) and status reports.
Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) Processing:
- Prepare documentation for Tax Clearance Certificate applications.
- Follow up with relevant tax authorities.
- Resolve tax queries.
- Obtain and deliver approved TCCs to clients.
Monthly VAT Compliance:
- Prepare monthly VAT schedules.
- File VAT returns.
- Process VAT remittances.
- Reconcile VAT records.
- Ensure statutory filing deadlines are met.
Other Responsibilities:
- Prepare WHT schedules and remittances.
- Process Company Income Tax (CIT) filings.
- Prepare Education Tax computations.
- Process Industrial Training Fund (ITF) compliance.
- Handle National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) registrations and remittances.
- Process Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (where applicable).
- Prepare annual employer returns.
- Liaise with government agencies on behalf of clients.
- Maintain client statutory compliance calendars.
- Prepare compliance status reports for management.
- Advise clients on tax and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Maintain proper filing (electronic and physical) of all statutory documents.
- Monitor statutory deadlines and send reminders to clients.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- 100% timely filing of statutory returns.
- Zero penalties arising from late filings.
- Turnaround time for CAC registrations and amendments.
- Number of TCC applications successfully processed.
- Accuracy of PAYE, VAT, and Pension computations.
- Client satisfaction and timely issue resolution.
- Proper maintenance of client compliance records.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), State Internal Revenue Services (SIRS), PENCOM, ITF, and NSITF procedures.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
- Excellent documentation and record management.
- Good communication and client relationship management.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and meet statutory deadlines.
