Job Summary

  • Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure.
  • The Network Security Engineer designs, implements, and maintains controls that protect the organization’s network infrastructure, systems, and data.
  • The role combines hands-on engineering with continuous monitoring, incident support, and improvement of security architecture across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain network-security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, secure web gateways, intrusion detection/prevention systems, network access control, and security monitoring tools.
  • Deploy and maintain virtual private servers for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain secure network architectures, segmentation standards, access-control policies, and configuration baselines for wired, wireless, cloud, and remote-access environments.
  • Monitor network activity and security alerts; investigate anomalies, assess impact, and coordinate containment and recovery actions during security incidents.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, configuration reviews, and periodic security testing; prioritize remediation with infrastructure and application teams.
  • Review firewall rules, privileged network access, and third-party connectivity to ensure least-privilege access and policy compliance.
  • Partner with IT, cloud, endpoint, and application teams to embed security requirements into new systems, changes, and projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational procedures, and evidence needed for audits, risk reviews, and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to security awareness, incident-response exercises, disaster-recovery planning, and continuous improvement of the security program.

Requirements

  • First Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, network security, cybersecurity operations, or a closely related role.
  • Hands-on experience administering and managing virtual private servers.
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, routing and switching, and network security monitoring.
  • Experience investigating security events using SIEM, log-analysis, endpoint, or network-monitoring tools.
  • Experience with cloud-network security in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments and controls aligned to standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or GDPR.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TLS, proxies, wireless security, identity and access management, and common attack techniques.
  • Familiarity with zero-trust principles, secure access service edge (SASE), network automation, infrastructure as code, or scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Professional certifications such as Security+, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CISSP, CISM, GIAC, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, or equivalent.
  • Ability to translate risk and technical findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and prioritization skills.
