The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grants and Compliance Officer

About the role

  • We are seeking to recruit a Grants and Compliance officer to support effective grant management and ensuring organizational and donor compliance across all projects.
  • The role supports grant documentation, donor reporting, contract review, compliance monitoring, and capacity-building for staff and partners.
  • This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and will be based in Abuja

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, review, and finalisation of grant agreements, sub-awards, and contract modifications.
  • Maintain an up-to-date grants database, contract tracker, and documentation system.
  • Monitor grant deliverables, reporting timelines, and compliance obligations.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of high-quality donor reports (financial and narrative) in collaboration with programme and finance teams.
  • Track grant budgets, spending patterns, and variances, flagging issues promptly
  • Support review of grant activities to ensure adherence to donor regulations, internal policies, and statutory requirements.
  •  Support in conducting regular compliance reviews of financial and programme documentation.
  • Support internal control systems to reduce risks related to procurement, finance, and programme implementation.
  • Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing organisational policies and procedures.
  • Support due diligence assessments of potential partners and document findings.
  • Support in training partners on donor rules, reporting requirements, and financial compliance standards.
  • Review partner financial reports, supporting documents, and deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documents and facilitating communication.
  • Support in conducting training for staff and partners on donor compliance, grant management, and internal policies

About you

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven experience managing donor-funded programmes with analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically, exercise sound judgement, and develop innovative solutions to grant management and compliance challenges.
  • You will be able to proactively identify potential risks, communicate issues effectively, and recommend practical, forward-thinking solutions that strengthen compliance and programme performance.
  • Experience in grants and compliance management within an international organization and community-based organisations (CBOs), providing technical support to strengthen internal controls, organisational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance capacity. Experience managing funding from major donors such as the Mastercard Foundation (MCF), European Commission (including ECHO, GFFO, SIDA, SV), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) will be an advantage.

Salary 
NGN 9,856,248 - N11,255,100 annually.
