We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Civil Engineer

Location: Costain, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • We are seeking a reliable and proactive Civil Engineer to oversee and support civil engineering and construction activities across project sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction works are executed according to approved designs, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project timelines.
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects..

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil engineering and construction activities on project sites.
  • Interpret and review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and identify potential technical issues, defects, or deviations from approved plans.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, site reports, progress reports, and relevant project documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor the use of construction materials and ensure that materials delivered to site meet the required quality and quantity specifications.
  • Assist in estimating quantities, preparing bills of quantities, and reviewing project costs where required.
  • Ensure that construction activities are completed within approved project timelines and budgets.
  • Identify construction risks and recommend practical and cost-effective solutions to technical and site-related challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, engineering standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship and ensure corrective actions are implemented where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, measurements, materials, inspections, and project progress.
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical input on construction progress, challenges, and required actions.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, government authorities, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Support the Project Manager in ensuring successful project delivery from commencement to completion.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 3–5 years of experience in Civil Engineering, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Experience working on building, structural, road, infrastructure, or other construction projects is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, site supervision, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, structural, and architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of relevant Nigerian building regulations, engineering standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent planning, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional membership with COREN or relevant engineering certification will be an added advantage.
