Job Title: Accountant (Payable & Receivable)

Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Accountant (Payables & Receivables) is responsible for managing the company’s financial transactions related to suppliers, contractors, clients, and partners.
  • This role ensures accurate recording, timely payments, efficient collections, and compliance with both local and international accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
Account Payable:

  • Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor outstanding liabilities and maintain vendor relationships.

Account Receivable:

  • Generate and issue client invoices for petroleum products, consultancy, and service contracts.
  • Track collections, follow up on overdue accounts, and manage credit control.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and receipts.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on payables and receivables.
  • Support management with cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis.
  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations.

Compliance & Controls:

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Implement internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Collaborate with operations teams in waste management, haulage, and marine services to align financial records with service delivery.
  • Provide financial insights to support project costing, budgeting, and profitability analysis.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in oil & gas or related industries.
  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA,) required.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and petroleum industry regulations.
  • Experience in with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Precision in preparing reports and ensuring compliance.
  • Clear reporting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify financial risks and propose solutions.
  • Work effectively with finance, operations, and compliance teams.

Salary
Salary: N500,000 - N600,000 per month (Net Salary) (However, the salary can be negotiated upward depending on the candidate’s experience).
