Zira People Advisory - Our client, a reputable school located around the Ogba axis, Lagos, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: School Bus Driver

Location: Ogba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • We are seeking a responsible, safety-conscious, and experienced School Bus Driver to transport pupils safely while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and road safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely transport pupils to and from school and other approved locations.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and school transportation policies.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure the bus is roadworthy.
  • Report any mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Keep the assigned vehicle clean and well-maintained.
  • Ensure the safety and orderly conduct of pupils while boarding, travelling, and disembarking.
  • Maintain accurate trip and vehicle records as required.
  • Perform other duties related to school transportation as assigned.

Minimum Educational Qualification

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC/NECO) or its equivalent.
  • A valid Nigerian driver's licence appropriate for the class of vehicle to be driven.
  • A valid driver's permit issued by the relevant licensing authority.
  • Completion of a recognised defensive driving or professional driver training programme will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' driving experience with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience driving a school bus or commercial passenger vehicle is preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent driving and road safety skills.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian traffic laws and road signs.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to interact courteously with pupils, parents, and school staff.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and routine maintenance.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to child safety.
