The Federal University of Technology, Babura (FUTB) is a federal government-owned tertiary institution located in Babura, Jigawa State, Northwestern Nigeria. Established in June 2021 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the university was founded to bridge the equity gap in the distribution of higher learning institutions and accelerate technological and medical advancement in Nigeria.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Babura, Jigawa

Job Summary

• The University Librarian is a Principal Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day effective management and coordination of library services in the University.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must possess a PhD in Library Science/Library and Information Science.
• At least fifteen (15) years cognate experience, and must be at least a Deputy Librarian/Associate Professor in a recognized University.
• Relevant experience in a University Library is an added advantage.
• Must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Certificate of Exclusion.
• Must possess good leadership qualities and be a resourceful manager of human and material resources.
• Evidence of registration with the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
• Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and the ability to initiate, undertake, and supervise research, alongside professional and administrative experience.

Age, Health & Condition of Service

• Age: Must not be more than sixty-five (65) years of age at the time of appointment.
• Health: Must enjoy good health to be able to endure the duties.
• Condition of Service: Single term of five (5) years.
