Job Title: Quality Control Engineer - Piles / Sheet

Location: FZE, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Product: steel sheet piles, beam profiles, and (spiral-welded and longitudinally welded) pipe profiles

Objective

  • The QC Engineer is jointly responsible for safeguarding the quality of the process and the products to be delivered by company

Areas of Responsibilities Inspection/Supervision

  • Help ensure that during the production process and upon delivery, the products comply with the agreed quality requirements (ITP).
  • Ensure that, where necessary, WPSs are prepared in a timely manner for each project based on WǪRs/WPǪs.
  • Instruct the Production Manager and Supervisors, and if necessary the workshop employees, regarding the quality requirements of the relevant product (project).
  • Ensure the timely written assignment or execution of Non-Destructive and Destructive Testing (NDT and DT) in accordance with project or internal requirements (ITP), in consultation with the relevant Project Manager or the ǪC Manager.
  • Ensure timely logistical preparation for DT and NDT inspections.
  • Provide feedback on NDT and DT test results to the Project Manager and ǪC Manager.
  • Perform (digitally) documented random sample inspections (cross-checks) on products and processes.
  • Supervise any non-conformities requiring repairs.
  • On behalf of the ǪC, Project, or Sales Manager, visit customers and subcontractors for complaint handling or general quality inspections. These visits are digitally documented.
  • Help ensure the traceability (Release Note) of assembled products through a prepared Pile Make-Up.
  • Monitor the timely calibration of measuring and testing equipment used at the sites by the Technical Department to determine the quality of the final product, while maintaining a clear (digital) administration of these activities.
  • When deviations are identified or reported, ensure they are registered by production through an NCR (Non-Conformity Report) and, where permitted, propose corrective actions and have them implemented.
  • Compile and provide the agreed (digital) project documentation to the relevant Project Manager.
  • Ensure the timely and well-substantiated renewal of welder certificates based on relevant standards.
  • Maintain an up-to-date welder overview list and distribute it to Production.
  • Maintain accurate and transparent general ǪC and project administration.
  • Check welding parameters during production and report them digitally.

Responsibility:
Responsible for:

  • Monitoring the implementation of WPSs per project at the production sites.
  • Preparing (based on project requirements) and renewing welder certificates (every six months by the ǪC Engineer and annually by a third party).

Requirements
Education:

  • B.Sc / HND in Mechanical Engineer
  • Working and thinking level in metalworking, supplemented by extensive relevant practical experience.
  • Completed IWS or IWT (International Welding Technologist) qualification.
  • VTW 2 or equivalent qualification.( Visual inspection Level 2)
  • VCA.
  • Relevant procedures from the quality manual.

Knowledge of:

  • Processing and manufacturing techniques for steel sheet piles, beam profiles, and (spiral-welded and longitudinally welded) pipe profiles.
  • Sufficient commercial insight and strong interpersonal skills.
  • English, both spoken and written.

Communication with:

  • Various colleagues regarding quality and welding-related technical advice.
  • NDT and DT subcontractors regarding planning and definition of activities.
  • Production Manager and ǪC Manager to provide advice on quality-related matters.
