Job Title: Cashier

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Description

  • We are seeking a trustworthy, customer-oriented, and detail-driven Cashier to join its Finance Department.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving payments from patients and customers, issuing receipts, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring accountability and compliance with the hospital's financial policies.
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong numerical skills, integrity, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive payments from patients, clients, and other customers through cash, POS, bank transfers, or other approved payment channels.
  • Issue official receipts for all payments received and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Verify patient bills and payment details before processing transactions.
  • Balance cash collections and reconcile daily transactions at the close of business.
  • Prepare daily cash reports and submit them to the Finance Department.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and supporting documents.
  • Ensure proper custody of cash and other financial instruments entrusted to you.
  • Respond professionally to patients' billing and payment enquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Department to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients' financial information and hospital records.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the hospital's financial policies and internal control procedures.
  • Report any discrepancies, shortages, or suspicious transactions immediately to the Finance Manager.
  • Assist with other finance and administrative duties as assigned by Management.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Minimum of an OND / HND / B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Accounting or Finance is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience as a cashier, finance assistant, or customer service officer.
  • Experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, or other service-oriented organization is an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and accountability.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to use accounting software, billing systems, or Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) is an added advantage.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.

  • Salary: N60,000 - N100,000 / month.
