We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Music Instructor

Location: Gwarinpa, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery & Curriculum Implementation:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging music lessons for individual students or small groups, covering instruments such as Violin, Keyboard, Guitar, Saxophone, and Vocal training.
  • Implement DTA's SHRID niche, particularly focusing on:
    • Driving Skill Acquisition in musical performance, theory, and appreciation.
    • Applying Individualized Teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles, skill levels, and musical interests.
    • Promoting clear Diction and vocal clarity in singing and musical communication.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, musical exercises, and repertoire to make music accessible, enjoyable, and challenging for all pupils.
  • Set clear learning objectives for each lesson and provide constructive feedback to students to support their musical progress.
  • Prepare pupils for internal performances, school events, and external music examinations or competitions as appropriate.

Assessment & Reporting:

  • Design and administer appropriate assessments to evaluate student understanding of musical concepts, technical proficiency on instruments, and vocal performance.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify learning gaps, inform instructional adjustments, and provide targeted support to students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, musical progress, and performance grades.
  • Prepare comprehensive progress reports for parents, highlighting musical achievements and areas for development.

Classroom / Studio Management & Environment:

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment conducive to musical exploration and practice.
  • Implement effective management strategies to ensure an orderly and respectful learning atmosphere during lessons.
  • Encourage active participation, creative expression, and a love for music among students.
  • Ensure musical instruments and equipment are properly cared for, maintained, and organized.

Student Welfare & Support:

  • Monitor the academic and social-emotional well-being of students, identifying and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Provide individualized support and encouragement for students who require additional assistance in their musical journey.
  • Collaborate with parents, support staff, and other teachers to ensure holistic development and address student needs.
  • Serve as a Form Tutor / Class Teacher as assigned, overseeing general welfare and academic progress of a designated class, which may include teaching other subjects.

Professional Development & Collaboration:

  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, school-wide professional development sessions, and training programs, particularly those related to music education and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, develop curriculum materials, and enhance the overall academic and arts program.
  • Contribute to school events and activities, such as assemblies, concerts, and talent shows, as required.
  • Utilize the DTA software for academic tracking, communication, and appraisal processes.

  • Strictly adhere to all DTA policies and procedures, including those related to punctuality, dress code, safety, and ethical conduct.
  • Uphold the professional standards and values of Discovering Talents Academy at all times.
