Job Title: (Associate) Portfolio Officer, Liquid Asset Management

Job Summary
The objective of the Liquid Asset Management (LAM) Group in IFC’s Treasury Market Operations Department is to preserve capital and maximize returns, while maintaining risks within acceptable levels. IFC assets are invested in highest-quality assets, including sovereign and triple-A-rated corporate and asset-backed bonds, and held in distinct portfolios, some of which are outsourced to external fund managers. LAM is a small group of highly motivated, team oriented professionals who work closely with IFC’s risk and accounting departments. The portfolio includes the following products:
  • High credit sovereign, sovereign guaranteed, and agency bonds in US dollars or asset-swapped into dollars;
  • Domestic and foreign asset-backed, mortgage-backed securities, and other structured finance products in US dollars or asset-swapped in dollars;
  • AAA credit corporate bonds;
  • Derivative products, including swaps, futures and option contracts.
The (Associate) Portfolio Officer, Liquid Asset Management will be responsible for the following:
  • Support the portfolio managers in their active management of IFC’s liquid assets against total return benchmarks
  • Daily reporting of global financial market news to the organization
  • Trade entry
  • Market surveillance and analysis
  • Portfolio reporting
  • Trade execution under direction of the portfolio managers – supporting achievement of best execution.
Selection Criteria
  • Master’s degree in Business or Finance
  • Minimum of five years of experience in fixed income related activities (e.g. trading or research)
  • Knowledge of and experience with markets (electronic trading platforms) and financial instruments (cash and derivatives)
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast trading environment
  • Understanding of macro economics
  • Basic knowledge of structured finance products (e.g., RMBS, ABS, CMBS)
  • Open to initiatives and risks; comfortable to operate in an open, team-based environment
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
