Job Title: Legal Advisor

Location: Lagos

About the Role

• The Legal Advisor will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a variety of general legal matters. This role will collaborate with various departments across the organization on all aspects of general corporate law and practice including contracts, business agreements, leases, regulatory items, mandatory filings, compliance, and overall limiting risk exposure.
• The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to the CEO and management team to provide direction on daily legal matters and liaise with the outside counsel
• This position will be also focused on responding to and mitigating anticipated risk as well as work with the marketing team to ensure compliance on consumer-facing materials and help set the strategy for brand protection at home and abroad to enforce trademark portfolio.

Job Duties

• Drive the closure of deals by drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide range of commercial and corporate agreements.
• Oversee litigation matters, regulatory hearings and investigations.
• Provide support on all customer facing issues, including compliance, export and other operational issues.
• Provide advice to Leadership team and Stakeholders within the organization on a broad range of legal, business, and strategic issues.
• Review advertising and marketing material to ensure that they comply with legal requirements.
• Review all third-party contracts, amendments and terminations.
• Maintain awareness of existing laws and regulations and stay current on industry trends.
• Ensure that legal and regulatory requirements, as well as Company's ethical expectations, are communicated and that compliance is maintained.

Skills and Qualifications

• Preferably 3+ years of experience post call in media & entertainment with an understanding of intellectual property and copy right protection, brand protection and licensing.
• Experience drafting complex contracts and transactions
• Strong business acumen with exceptional attention to detail and strategic thinking skills
• High degree of integrity and discretion with ability to maintain confidences
• Self-driven individual with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects
• Excellent interpersonal (both verbal and written) skills and comfortable presenting across all levels within the organization

Education

• Degree in Law (LLB)
• Graduate of the Nigerian Law School
