Over 158,000 graduates have applied for vacant positions advertised in the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The commission had advertised for positions at its enrolment centres across the states of the federation. The exercise is aimed at giving Nigerians the opportunity to register for the biometric identity system.
Sources close to the organisation’s head of Human Resources Department said that the external consultants appointed to manage the recruitment process had submitted the full list of the applicants and were screening them for possible interview.
The sources said a computer-based test would be administered to the shortlisted applicants before the principles of merit, federal character, catchment area, and spread are applied. The preliminary report of the consulting firm also showed that there were from 100 per cent to 1,000 per cent over- subscription in each of the over 94 job functions advertised.
It was gathered that the number could have been more had those who had difficulties in filling the form been able to do so before the close of the application. The online application system is a test process which was adopted to deliberately test the IT usage and competency of the applicants.
Those who are unable to fill the simple online application form might not be able to sit for the test, let alone pass the computer-based aptitude test, so it will be difficult to employ them now that the commission is in a hurry to kick off the nationwide enrolment process come April 2013.

What do you expect when the number applicants outgrows the available positions. I think the recruiting firm got confused at a point and could no longer follow what the have outlined as a recruitement guideline. Risk is most times worth taking, as life in itself is a risk. Take the risk and you will be shocked with what God will do for you, for me am out.

I think the sudden changes in the exams venue could be due to the large number of applicants and the limited vacancies. So, you can see the complications, one thousand plus offices for more than sixteen thousand applicants!May God help us to be among the chosen.

@ Mike, thank you for that beautiful comment of yours. By His grace, we shall surely be among the chosen in Jesus Name. To the NIMC management, I want to say thank you for this job, even though the centres are a bit far from the applicants, I still commend your effort. I can see myself already a staff of NIMC and so shall it be in Jesus' name(AMEN). I love this computer based exam, am used to it. Moreso, I love IT.

The Nigerian MPs are everywhere hijacking almost all available job vacancies possible for their family members & cronies whether they are competent or not. This is very disheartening as it has made life very miserable for majority of Nigerians with humble background. Interestingly, one thing I know for sure is that the evil spirit & demons inside can not always get away scout free particularly when the most High God in Heaven want to improve the impoverished conditions of His Sons & Daughters who have been knocking on the door & waiting patiently for His Blessings. It is at this juncture i that I want to say shame on the corrupt & crude individuals parading themselves as members of parliament & the so - called federal executive council.
