Vice - Chancellor at University of Maiduguri

The Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri, hereby announce that the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University will soon be vacant. In accordance with the provisions of the Universities Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1993, as amended. The Council invites applications from suitably qualified candidates, with experience in University administration, for the post.

The University has a College of Medical Sciences and eleven (11) Faculties namely:- Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Dentistry. Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and eight (8) Centres of Research along with other support services.

The University has a students population of over thirty five thousand (35.000) and a staff strength of over four thousand (4,000)

Responsibilities

• The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and shall exercise general supervision over the University.
• He/She shall he the Chairman of Senate and Ex-Officio member of the Governing Council and shall he responsible to Council for the day-to-day management of the human financial and material resources of the University

Requirements
Applicants for the post of the Vice-Chancellor should possess the following:

• The candidate must he a distinguished academic of national and international repute with a proven track record of scholarship.
• The candidate must have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University in its pursuit of academic excellence that is recognized globally.
• He/She should be innovative, capable of inspiring advancement of learning, with a strong aspiration and commitment for providing effective leadership.
• He/She should also be an astute manager of resources
• Vast and relevant administrative experience
• Past and current activities are likely to command the respect and loyalty of members of staff and students ofthe University of Maiduguri,
• Understand the academic and national objectives of the University system,
• Capable of fostering the integration of all without discrimination based on race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion and other acts of intolerance
• Capable of inspiring the advancement of teaching, learning, research and creative work consistent with international standard
• Morally sound and of unquestionable integrity and probity.
• Should not be below the rank of a Professor and Sound state of health
• Age Of Applicants: Eligible candidates should not be more than sixty five (65) years old at the time of assumption of office.

Conditions Of Service
The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only. Salary and allowances shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellors in Nigerian Federal Universities.
