Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Title: Team Lead - Payments

Job Description

• Reporting to the Head, Accounts, this role is primarily responsible for establishing payments policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems and ensuring compliance with payment controls.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop payment controls to govern payment processes.
• Prepare all payment vouchers as per procedures.
• Batch payment vouchers together for processing into accounting system.
• Process all payment batches into accounting system as per procedures.

Job Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other Social Science discipline.
• A minimum of 12 years work experience of which at least 3 years should have been in similar function.
• Professional accounting certification is mandatory

Key Competency Requirements:

• Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in depth understanding of public sector international and Nigerian accounting standards.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership/supervisory, coaching and mentoring and people management skills.
• A hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis.
