Role Summary/Purpose/Description
TDI - Technical Advisor (TA) Controls
GE Power is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies - providing a broad array of solutions for traditionally fueled plants.
The role of the TDI - TA acts as the front line engineer in front of GE customer and GE execution partners to drive/lead the installation of GE equipment in newly installed power plants.
The TDI - TA provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. The TDI - TA will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform on-site installation of GE equipment (Gas Turbine and/or Steam Turbine) and GE systems (MKVIe, EX2100e, LS2100e, …etc) followed by calibration and commissioning of equipment and associated systems until the equipment is connected to the grid and transferred to commercial operation by the customer
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites
Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability
Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties, and accomplish effective warranty administration until unit is transferred to customer or field services
Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis
Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary
Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites
Maintain strong safety & quality mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety & quality standards
Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
Qualifications/Requirements
Ability to travel for 75-90% of his time across the Middle East and Africa region. Acceptance to stay in the field for at least 5 years moving up the ladder in site roles.
Bachelor Degree in Electronics/Communications Engineering or Computer Science Engineering from an accredited university or college with knowledge in networks, instrumentation, control systems (MKVI or MKVIe) and knowledge of logic diagrams
Desired Characteristics:
Strong business acumen and ability to promote for GE products to the customer
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
Strong customer service mindset
Prior field engineering experience is preferred
Strong organizational skills
Prior project management experience is preferred
FEP program graduate or other GE Technical programs graduate is preferred (internal GE employees only)
