The Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position below:

Job Title: Librarian

Location: Bayelsa

The Post

• The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer and head of the Polytechnic’s Library, and shall be responsible for the smooth running of the Polytechnic’s Library system and shall report to the Rector.

Qualifications and Experience

• Posses a good honours degree not lower than 2nd Class Lower Division in Library Science from a recognized institute of higher learning. Possession of higher degree(s) is an advantage.
• Give evidence of current membership of Library Professional Bodies and registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN);
• Give sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publications in reputable peer review outlets.
• Proficient in ICT packages.
• Have a minimum of 15 years post Degree qualification with cognate work experience, ten (10) of which must beat the Library management position in a tertiary institution.
• Have occupied the position of a Principal or Deputy Librarian in a tertiary institution.
• Not be more than 55 years of age upon appointment.

Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be for five (5) years in the first instance and may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance for another period of five (5) years and no more.

Condition of Service
The conditions of service for the post are the same as obtained in all Federal Polytechnics in the country. In addition, the appointee shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic.
